Shipping & Logistics Lead

Department: Transportation & Logistics  
Reports to: Transportation & Logistics Manager  
Location: Oak Creek, WI

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Shipping & Logistics Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the LTL outbound department while providing support to warehouse supervisors and managers. This role ensures the accuracy and efficiency of outbound freight activities by maintaining shipment records, coordinating with carriers and customers, and facilitating timely and precise pickups. Through effective coordination and attention to detail, the Shipping & Logistics Lead enhances operational efficiency, supports customer satisfaction, and contributes to the overall success of the logistics operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate LTL, truckload, and expedited shipments (inbound and outbound) using Acumatica and the Transportation Management System (TMS).

  • Calculate and apply customer freight charges and carrier costs accurately in both TMS and Acumatica.

  • Provide timely and accurate LTL freight quotes to customers and the sales department via phone and email.

  • Process production orders for truck shipments in accordance with specified shipping lead times.

  • Troubleshoot and develop effective solutions for complex delivery locations and time-sensitive shipments.

  • Assist with carrier freight bill audits to ensure accuracy and cost control.

  • Process freight claims and support claim resolution as needed.

  • Support parcel shipment quoting and carrier invoice auditing.

  • Enter international orders into online systems as required.

  • Provide support to the LTL Office and OS&D (Overages, Shortages & Damages) Freight positions as needed.

  • Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred

  • 1–3 years of related experience preferred

Ability to read, write, and understand English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

REASONING ABILITY:
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Computer literate

  • Familiar with transportation and/or logistics programs
