Job description Summary:

The Production Supervisor’s main objective is to properly organize team members to achieve a reasonable work flow throughout the day.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS):

• Directly supervise and develop a team that consists of Line Lead-Hands, a team of Production staff and temporary staff employees.

• Responsible for output of production including yields, labor and material costs

• Responsible for product quality and training of employees on quality standards and procedures

• Enforcement of plant rules for production, hygiene, health and safety and employee conduct

• Learn, teach, exhibit and enforce behaviors consistent with Code of Conduct

• Complete monthly performance reviews for new hires and internal moves for their 3- month probationary periods

• Provide performance management counseling and/or progressive discipline in a timely fashion when required

• Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and Process Controls

• Maintain fair and consistent application of all company policies and procedures.

• Ensure that all are complying with Occupational Health and Safety regulations

• Ensure compliance with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards. Maintain the highest standards for quality, customer service and recognizing that Food Safety is of the greatest priority, including GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)

• Plan and prioritize daily job assignments, through the company ERP system QAD

• Maintain a good employee relations environment/ Resolve personnel issues or conflicts

• Develop associates through effective use of the Performance Management Process and Wage Reviews Program, by constantly measuring performance of employees, overall shift and of him/herself

• Ensure open and effective communication. Communicate (lead by example) mission, vision and values

• Track employee vacation requests and follow-up with the Payroll Administrator on these requests

• Communicate with external employment agencies to ensure adequate staffing each day

• Follow-up on employee requests (i.e. for employment letters, paystub reviews, etc.)

• Monitor and approve employee hours worked in the timekeeper

• Complete report in the event of an accident or incident

• Review worker requests to switch agencies and pass these requests along to the Sr. Supervisor for approval

• Provide referral form to employees who would like to make a referral and ensure completeness of form.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 3+ years’ experience in a bakery/food manufacturing environment

• HACCP and first aid certifications required

• High school or equivalent

• Strong leadership and employee management skills

• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with individuals and in a group setting

• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively within a diverse team environment

• Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to proactively exercise judgment and use analytical skills to generate productive outcomes

• Proven organizational, planning and priority-setting skills

• Be action oriented and provide leadership to employees

• Need to demonstrate self-confidence and self-preservation

• Self-driven and ability to motivate others

• Ability to work in a logical, systematic manner and have common sense

• Proficiency in English both in written and oral communication

• Advanced Computer knowledge

• Good knowledge of advanced mathematical skills
