Job Description

Position Overview:
The Pressroom Assistant supports the Press Operator and Press Manager in operating and maintaining web press machinery, ensuring smooth press operations and high-quality output. This role involves managing paper supplies, assisting with machine adjustments, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Handling: Ensure a continuous supply of paper and pallets is available for press operations. Remove printed product from the line and neatly stack it on pallets for further processing.
  • Press Assistance: Support press make-readies, operation, and basic maintenance of the press, including keeping the ink fountains full and maintaining proper ink and water balance.
  • Folder Adjustments: Assist in changing the folder from ¼ folds to ½ folds and install/remove the lap folder as required.
  • Roll Management: Label unfinished rolls and wrap them with shrink-wrap for proper identification and storage.
  • Workplace Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety guidelines and best practices to ensure a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting and stacking.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn press operation and maintenance tasks.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and cleanliness.
