Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mechanical Assembler to join our dynamic Chillers department. This hands-on role requires assembling mechanical components according to detailed technical drawings, sales orders, and strict manufacturing specifications. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate assembly of various mechanical systems, with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards and efficiency throughout the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Mechanical Assembly: As a Mechanical Assembler, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting operation sheets, blueprints, wire lists, and shop travelers to assemble mechanical components precisely. This includes working with a variety of mechanical parts and tools to build complex systems.

  • Braze Copper Joints: You will braze copper joints for refrigeration circuits, ensuring that all connections are secure and meet operational specifications.

  • Materials Management: You will be tasked with generating, tracking, and maintaining materials pulls for the assembly process. Additionally, you will keep accurate records of assembly floor schedules, ensuring that all components are available when needed and that the assembly process runs smoothly.

  • Process Documentation: It is critical to maintain and update paperwork as materials move through the assembly process. You will ensure that accurate status records are kept for each assembly project, ensuring no details are overlooked.

  • Collaborative Teamwork: This role requires effective communication and collaboration with other team members to maintain a positive and efficient work environment. You will actively participate in team efforts to troubleshoot issues, suggest improvements, and support overall production goals.

  • Use of Overhead Hoists: For some assembly tasks, you will need to use overhead hoists to move and position materials. This requires physical strength and the ability to operate hoists safely and effectively.

  • Workplace Organization: You will be responsible for keeping your work area clean, organized, and safe. This includes ensuring that tools, parts, and materials are readily accessible and that all equipment is in proper working condition.

  • Reading Technical Documents: You will be required to read and understand mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and perform basic arithmetic calculations, including working with decimals and fractions. Precision and accuracy are critical in this role.

  • Use of Measuring Instruments: You will use a variety of measuring instruments, such as calipers and tape measures, to check the dimensions and accuracy of your assemblies, ensuring all components meet the required standards.

  • Electrical Systems: While not mandatory, candidates with the ability to read electrical schematics and wire electrical systems will be considered a plus, as it could expand your responsibilities in assembly projects.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Additional technical training or certifications in mechanical assembly or related fields is a plus.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing assembly or a similar hands-on mechanical role is required. Experience in the assembly of refrigeration or HVAC systems is highly preferred but not mandatory.

Skills:

  • Mechanical Aptitude: A strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work with various tools and equipment to assemble and troubleshoot systems. (Required)
  • Attention to Detail & Precision: Ability to follow specific procedures and processes accurately, ensuring that all components are assembled to specification. (Required)
  • Interpersonal & Organizational Skills: Must be able to work effectively with team members, communicate clearly, and keep an organized workspace. (Required)
  • Forklift Experience: Experience with stand-up and sit-down forklifts is preferred, but not required. If you don’t have experience, the ability to learn quickly will be essential.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors, document assembly progress, and read technical documents. (Required)
  • Safety Consciousness: A commitment to following safety procedures and using proper protective equipment during all assembly tasks.

Physical Requirements:

  • The role requires the ability to lift heavy materials, use overhead hoists, and move large components around the assembly area as part of the mechanical assembly process.
  • You must be able to read and interpret detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics, as well as perform calculations with decimals and fractions accurately.
