Job Description

DC Material Handler I / Forklift Operator

Help keep products moving in a fast-paced distribution center. As a DC Material Handler I, you’ll receive, store, pick, pack, and ship products safely and accurately. This hands-on warehouse role is ideal for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, comfortable using technology, and ready to grow their distribution-center skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate warehouse equipment and forklifts as assigned.

  • Receive, inspect, count, weigh, and verify incoming shipments against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, and other records.

  • Use a computer or handheld scanner to access the WMS, verify inventory, and process incoming and outgoing orders.

  • Pick products from warehouse locations and assemble accurate customer orders.

  • Pack items securely using cartons, spacers, fillers, and protective materials.

  • Apply shipping labels and attach required shipping information and instructions to packages, cartons, crates, and containers.

  • Stock inventory in the correct warehouse locations.

  • Load and unload trucks and process bills of lading for inbound and outbound shipments.

  • Inspect outgoing orders to ensure shipments meet quality and customer specifications.

  • Identify damaged product or shipment shortages; follow procedures to document and report issues.

  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and warehouse standards.

  • Support team and operational needs by completing other assigned duties.

What You’ll Bring

  • Basic warehouse, shipping/receiving, order picking, packaging, or material-handling experience is helpful.

  • Forklift experience or the ability to learn and safely operate a forklift.

  • Basic computer skills, including entering and looking up information in a warehouse management system.

  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written English instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail when counting, checking documentation, and verifying products.

  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.

  • A calm, reliable approach in a busy and changing work environment.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback, multitask, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Ability to safely use hand tools as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move materials weighing up to 70 lbs.

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb in and out of truck trailers throughout the shift.

  • Ability to use hands to handle products, tools, and equipment.

  • Ability to maintain focus while reviewing documentation, counting inventory, and inspecting products.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and meet required vision needs, including close, distance, color, and depth vision.

Work Environment & Schedule

You’ll work in an active distribution-center environment with multiple shipping docks and exposure to changing outdoor weather conditions during loading and unloading. Steel-toe shoes are required, and PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection may be required depending on the work area.

Schedules may vary by shift and customer demand. Overtime, including Monday through Saturday, may be available or required at times.
