Job Description

A lead in this assembly department is responsible for kitting, assembly, inspection, and packaging of electronic equipment. When the supervisor is not present, this person is also accountable for overall department performance. The role is essential to meeting production goals while maintaining high product quality.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and verbal directions to complete product assembly according to quality standards.

  • Perform and understand complex ruler measurements.

  • Apply advanced soldering and crimping skills.

  • Identify and select correct wire sizes for production.

  • Operate crimping machines and change dies on bench top crimpers.

  • Perform kitting and bagging to prepare products for shipment.

  • Use various hand and power tools to assemble components and prepare items for shipment.

  • Assemble or modify electronic equipment; position, align, and adjust parts to support wiring and assembly.

  • Complete additional tasks such as packaging or spot checking the work of others.

  • Inspect and test parts/products during and after assembly to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Serve as the go to resource for assembly questions; maintain advanced knowledge of all assembly tasks.

  • Conduct in process inspections, complete documentation, and ensure proper assembly methods.

  • Set up jobs and complete production paperwork accurately.

  • Troubleshoot assembly issues as needed.

  • Maintain accountability for department performance when the supervisor is not present.

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of IPC training modules.

  • Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work area.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions; must be able to speak and understand English

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers

  • Advanced soldering and crimping skills

  • Knowledge of kitting and bagging for preparing products for shipment

  • Strong time management skills

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and reports

  • May be required to use measuring devices such as rulers, micrometers, calipers, and scales, along with magnifying aids

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3–4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • IPC Certification

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling, reach with arms, and communicate verbally

  • Frequently required to sit

  • Must have close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus

  • Ability to move hands and arms quickly to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs occasionally
