Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  • This position will be responsible for setting metrics relating to daily work as well as improvement of both process and cost. Director of Logistics position will be evaluated relative to these metrics. This position is eligible for the managerial bonus program.
  • Continuous monitoring and concern for employee Safety. Taking immediate action for safety infractions up to disciplinary following  Sellars  discipline guidelines.
  • Work with EHS Manger and Safety Committee as necessary.
  • Monitoring Semi-drivers for adherence to DOT CDL rules and regulations.
  • Work with Customer Service, Planning, and Production departments to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of products meeting customer expectations and requirements.
  • Attend Daily Planning Meeting
  • Resolve problems concerning WMS, transportation, logistics systems, inventory, or customer issues.
  • Manage freight costs including inbound, transfers and outbound with quality carriers. Using full truck, LTL, intermodal etc.
  • Work with employees to maintain proper staffing levels while managing labor costs.
  • Work with employees to generate SOP and function with best practices to maintain product quality, the accuracy of inventory, the accuracy of shipments, safety, cleanliness etc.
  • Manage maintenance and preventative maintenance programs for warehouse equipment and lift truck fleet.
  • Manage relationships with 3PL to improve speed and accuracy of the outbound order fulfillment process. Verify and approve all freight and 3PL invoices.
  • Responsible for daily inventory accuracy at all 3PL locations.
  • Lead process change initiatives including enhancements to create improved efficiencies across Logistics.
  • Monitoring employee conduct or infractions of behavior through investigation and discipline as necessary. Must be strong in leadership and willingness to confront employees with corrective actions with a sense of urgency.
  • Monitor product import or export processes and paperwork to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
  • WMS installation, functionality, control, proper use and changes of improvement is the responsibility of Logistic Director.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train warehouse personnel on all aspects. Look for employees with desire and talent to promote and encourage them. Look for opportunities to engage them at another level.
  • Understand and provide input on any system changes that may be required cross-departmentally as it pertains to Logistics ability to " do the work without obstacles". System changes should not create more work but improve quality of work.
  • Create objectives that drive for improvement to manage customer expectations and be cost minded.
  • Facilitate teams for all aspects of work where work is best completed with all involved.
  • Continuously communication with all levels of the organization.
  • Responsible for meeting month end shipping metrics.
  • Attend monthly employees meetings, daily meetings, management meetings and participate as necessary.
  • Ability to be on call in emergency situations including either employee or building emergencies.
Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team and influence others by your actions and behavior.
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to determine financial payback of improvements.
  • Advanced experience and knowledge in the development of strategic initiatives and cost containment activities.
  • Advanced knowledge in Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Capability to develop improvement plans (standards, goals, objectives) in a way that gains team commitment towards achievement.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills with the capability to confront and deal with issues in a positive, constructive as appropriate in a disciplinary manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve (identify problem, define root cause, develop alternative solutions and select and implement most effective solution).
  • The ability to clearly assess the key aspects of a successful operation and develop and implement SOPs to meet those requirements.
  • Ability to commit the hour' s necessary to get work completed. Lead by example with willingness to commit time.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills. Demonstrated capability to function within a cross functional team and/or to lead cross functional teams.
  • Ability to seek out, listen and value inputs from all levels in the organization, recognizing the values, skills and knowledge possessed by associates.
  • Ability to exercise professionalism, courtesy and tact in dealing with all members of the  Sellars  organization and external resources.

Education and/or Experience Required
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • At least 2 years of logistics leadership experience.
  • Prior experience in transportation including freight, ocean, rail, and freight forwarders inbound and outbound.
  • Bachelor' s degree preferred, but not necessary
  • High degree of computer skills including MS Office and WMS systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstration of continual education (through membership in recognized organizations, seminars attended, & certifications.
  • Prior experience working in the printing, paper production or paper converting industries is preferred.
