Controls & Automation Technician

Mechanical Maintenance | Manufacturing

Pay: $35–$40/hour (based on experience)
Shift Premium: Additional $2.50/hour for night shift
Bonus: Quarterly performance bonus available
Schedule: Alternating Work Schedule (AWS)

  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
  • Rotating weekends and extended shifts

We're looking for a skilled Controls & Automation Technician to help maintain and optimize highly automated manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment. If you enjoy solving complex electrical and mechanical challenges, working with cutting-edge automation technology, and making a direct impact on production performance, we'd love to hear from you.

In this role, you'll partner with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to troubleshoot equipment, minimize downtime, improve reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues.
  • Support robotics, HMIs, VFDs, industrial sensors, drives, and automated production systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Analyze equipment failures and identify root causes to reduce downtime.
  • Assist with machine installations, upgrades, and automation improvement projects.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical documentation.
  • Respond quickly to production equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance calls.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to improve equipment performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair documentation.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in controls, automation, industrial electrical maintenance, or manufacturing maintenance.
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment and industrial control systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and ladder logic.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PLC experience.
  • Experience with robotics, HMIs, VFDs, industrial sensors, and machine controls.
  • Experience in high-speed or highly automated manufacturing environments.
  • Technical degree, apprenticeship, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Experience supporting complex automated production equipment.
