Position Overview
The Bindery Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of bindery and finishing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials. This role plays a key part in the production workflow by ensuring projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and to customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Operate bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, stitchers, collators, drills, and trimmers.
Review job tickets, layouts, and specifications to determine setup and production requirements.
Set up, adjust, and maintain machinery for optimal performance and quality output.
Inspect finished products to ensure accuracy in alignment, folds, cuts, and overall quality.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime.
Monitor production runs and make adjustments as needed to maintain consistency.
Work closely with press operators and production staff to meet deadlines and coordinate workflow.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
Accurately log production data, materials used, and completed work.
Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing finished products for shipment as needed.
Qualifications
Previous experience in bindery, finishing, or print production preferred.
Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production specs, and mechanical instructions.
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery.
High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
Work Environment
This position is typically in a print shop, manufacturing, or production environment. It may involve working near loud machinery and requires adherence to safety protocols.
